Frequently Asked Questions

How to Keep Your Kids Off Drugs

and Bonuses

1. How will I receive my ebooks?

If you've purchased the books through an email promotion, you will be sent a link for the download page. Additionally, immediately after payment, a download page will open and you may download the book and all bonuses to your computer. If you're not at your own computer you can still download all books, save to CD or flash drive, and put them on your computer at home. You'll be able to use How to Keep Your Kids Off Drugs on three different computers. For example, you can save it to your own and to another family member's computer. You can save the book file to use as a third copy if you ever want to get a new computer. The file size is about 2½ megabytes. (Each ebook includes its own viewer, so you don't have to download a separate program to read them.) Bonus ebooks may each be used by up to 4 people, each on a different computer. Bonus ebooks' file sizes vary. Some are 10 or more MB. The largest is about 30 MB.

When you order How to Keep Your Kids Off Drugs, you'll enter an email address on the order form.  After you download your book, you'll receive an email at the email address you provided. This email should take one to five minutes to get to you. (Of course, due to some main computer shutdown or repair it could take longer. Don't worry, you'll receive it.) Your email program may have filtered out our email, so you may want to check your spam box to see if it's there. When you receive your email, you'll get a username and a password. When you open up your ebook, you'll enter the username and password into the spaces provided. You have to enter the numbers and letters in exactly, or it won't open.

Any computer you use will need to have internet access. The book registers itself as a valid copy. This is all done by the ebook program, called eBook Pro 6.0.

2. When I enter my information to register my book, will it be shared with anyone?

No, your information will absolutely not be shared with anyone. Only Lisa Fine Arts, Books & Crafts would be able to use this information to send you an email, and we don't send frequent emails. We might send a survey, another opportunity to get superb free gifts, and we'd let you know when we opened up a new website. You can always unsubscribe from the list, though. (Any email sent would contain a simple instruction on how to unsubscribe.)

3. Will I need to enter information every time I open the book up?

No, you only enter it once.

4.  What if I need another copy of How to Keep Your Kids Off Drugs to use on another computer I have?

You'll be able to use the book file you download, and the username and password you're sent, to register your book three times on three different computers.
You'll be responsible for keeping your username and password in a known place so you'll still be able to find them in 2, 5, or 10 years, when you feel like buying a new computer! You can give a copy to a friend or family member to read. You can only use that same exact username and password three times to register the book, so you might want to save a copy for future use on a new computer.

5. Can I use the book on Windows Vista?

Yes, you can. You may have to tell it (when it asks) to allow the ebook access to the internet. (It checks in with the ebook program's server, in Canada I believe, which automatically makes sure it's a registered copy of the book.)

6. What if I have trouble opening the book?

a) Make sure you typed the username and the password in correctly.

b) You may have to adjust your firewall if it doesn't allow eBook Pro to access the internet. You can usually specify that you're allowing that specific program or application access to the internet. We don't gather information, or anything like that. We can only tell how many registrations you've used up.

7. Does my computer have to access the internet every time I want to read my book?

No. But it does need to access the internet occasionally. (The program checks itself in to the eBook Pro server. If the book tries to check in but you're not on the internet, just choose "override internet connection check" from "Options" in the book's top menu.)

8. Will I be able to print my ebook?

How to Keep Your Kids Off Drugs, no. (The bonus ebooks are mainly printable.) Feel free to send feedback on this, as we often have a print version available.

9. Is it simple enough for a child to read?

Yes.  An eleven year old told me she thought it was very simple to read!

10. Can I use the books on a Mac?

Yes, just download the .zip files provided for Mac users.

11. What is an ebook?

An ebook is an electronic book, or in other words, an electronic book file. Anything that happens on a computer is electronic—it all has to do with those little negatively charged particles called "electrons" that are guided around and do all kinds of work for us. To put it simply, any type of book you read on your computer is an ebook. An ebook isn't on paper. It could be a book that's in a Microsoft Word file, a text file, or an Adobe PDF (Portable Document File). Sometimes an ebook contains its own viewer, or viewing program, and these are usually "executable files" (.exe files). This means they're self-contained, and you don't need to have another special program on your computer to run them. You can often navigate around in an ebook, as you can on a website. Ebooks may also contain pictures, photos, videos, and audio. You can buy ebooks and download them to your computer. Sometimes you can put them on other devices, or you might be able to read them on the web.
